A. This is a point of much confusion and misunderstanding. Yes, some pesticides can be hazardous to human health especially when applied incorrectly. Other materials are less toxic than table salt and pose very little risk to people, pets or the environment. As important as the inherent toxicity of a given product is, the application techniques, locations and formulation play a major role in the overall risk a pesticide may pose. Consistent with Perimetek Pest Management’s “Earth Conscious Prevention” philosophy, we favor non-chemical and minimally toxic options as a first line of defense. When necessary, we choose pesticides based on the least toxic product that we can reasonably expect to have the desired level of control. In many instances natural, biological or “non-toxic” products are available that can effectively mitigate a pest problem. When a more robust pesticide product is absolutely necessary, we choose only those that are “Caution” rated or better (the least toxic category of EPA registered pesticides) and have developed proprietary methods and equipment to ensure that the risk to people, pets and the environment are minimized.
